It doesn't seem that long ago when we saw the last Chronicles of Riddick movie, yet I don't remember much. They are so senseless and ridiculous, you shouldn't be expected to get all caught up. When seeing Rambo III, it wasn't necessary to know anything from Rambo I and II. It's not surprising Gary and I were a little lost for the first half hour. We can only hope that this 3rd installment is the last. I liked Vin Diesel in Fast and Furious movies, but this one seems like he went to acting class with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. We all know how their dialogue goes! When the story started to progress and "action up", it did improve. I know sequels, prequels, and installments, etc. are supposed to tie in together, but movie makers have to keep in mind there will be new audience members. Keep that in mind with better backstory.

Riddick (Diesel) is beat up and abandoned on a desolate planet with a dog creature that becomes his companion and eventually there are snaky monsters everywhere.

Riddick journeys to a docking station on this planet, that is used by galaxy travelers. It's kind of a gas station for ships. When Riddick sends off a beacon device, it alerts a couple different ships that have warped to the station both for the same thing. One group of body building, gun toting misfits wants Riddick's head to collect a hefty bounty on the criminal.

Their leader Santana (Jordi Molla) butts heads with the second landing party. This group is led by Vaako (Karl Urban) who wants answers to a past that was confusing to the "non comic book reading" two of us (Gary and I). Riddick hides out Rambo style and waits out the group, knocking them off until he can get his hands on the ship. Some enthusing interaction between all of the groups kept us in the theatre, but the bad news is...Riddick ends wide open with the possibility of more on the horizon.
