Pleasantly surprised at this light-hearted action comedy, Gary, my dad and I agreed we thought it was slightly better than the first one. It had kind of a comic book strip feel to it on how they jumped from scene to scene. The cast of Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren are all pretty amusing playing off each other. If you don't want to get to the theatre soon, this would be a good one for the cheapie theatre or OnDemand.

Retired CIA operative Frank (Willis) and Marvin (Malkovich) are partners who escape capture and death more than the normal ridiculous. Thanks to some back-stabbing, this dup is now on the international terror list and they are being hunted - so dead or alive doesn't matter. With Frank's girlfriend Sarah (Mary Louise Parker), they are off to clear their names. There are assassins at every turn trying to "off" them, including old friend and stuffy English retired agent Victoria (Mirren), plus sultry Catherine Zeta Jones pops in and out as a Russian spy either helping or hunting them, depending on her mood. The real focus seems to be with a mad scientist played by Anthony Hopkins. He has been locked up for 30+ years holding the answer to a secret deadly weapon that is being sought out by many unsavory characters. After Hopkins seizes an opportunity to spring from his cell, it's hard to tell which side he and the other players are on. Right down to the end, in spite of all its silliness, Red 2 is a decent popcorn movie that you will find enjoyable.
